Together with Flautando Köln and Heikko Deutschmann, Albrecht Maurer is working on a new program, with various texts by Ronald D. Laing and music by Albrecht Maurer and others. It is about the synergy of text and music - with live electronics, and media.
Marco Ambrosini / Albrecht Maurer
ORPHEUS IN HEAVEN
Starting from the prologue of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, Marco Ambrosini and Albrecht Maurer arrange and compose their own and historical pieces for their wonderful instruments. These originate from different parts of Europe. The Gothic fiddle and the nyckelharpa were both first documented in the Middle Ages, but went quite different ways and experience here a new exclusive encounter. From the Gothic fiddle, the violin family has developed over time with the different construction methods. The nyckelharpa, which combines the idea of a string instrument with the tangents of a clavichord, grew in size and can now be played chromatically. It has a long and independent tradition, especially in Sweden. Old frescoes serve as historical sources for the reproduction. Here the instruments are played by angels, another reason to send Orpheus to heaven in search of his fortune.

Albrecht Maurer plays a violin and a viola by Falk Peters and a Gothic fiddle and a rebec by Thilo Viehrig . The fiddle and the rebec are reconstructed according to iconographies and sources and correspond to a construction method that is documented from the 13th century.
